“After Bath – ON” is an original oil painting by the artist Chau Ming Beck, originally titled “Concubine Bathing.” The protagonist of this artwork is the concubine of Emperor Tang Xuanzong, Li Longji. She is one of the four great beauties of ancient China, renowned for her beauty described as “sinking fish, falling geese, closed moon, and shy flowers.” Her original name was Yang Yuhuan, with the courtesy name Tai Zhen. Yang Yuhuan excelled in singing and dancing, was proficient in music theory, played musical instruments like the pipa, composed poetry including famous pieces like “Changmen Yuan” and “Baitou Yin,” and was skilled in calligraphy, capable of writing exquisite cursive script. Out of admiration for her, Chau Ming Beck created “Concubine Bathing.”
